Commit to doing something if enough others do.
For when something feels pointless on your own but profound as a group.
How it works
- Someone creates a commitment. For example: go to the city council meeting and ask for a crosswalk on Elm, if and only if 30 other people do too.
- People sign up with their email address.
- Once 30 people have signed up, everyone is told that enough people have committed.
- Everyone shows up, and you get what you came for.
For things like
- Ask for a later school start time if 200 parents at one school commit
- Bulk-buy solar for the street if 15 households commit
- Go to the zoning meeting and ask for a crosswalk on Elm if 40 neighbours commit
- Book the ski trip to Utah if 8 friends commit
- Start the reading group if 6 people commit
- Go vegan if 100,000 others commit
What you can set
- Who can see it
- Who can join
- The goal: a number, a percentage of an email list, everyone on it, or particular people
- The deadline
- Whether names are shown
- Whether there are comments, and whether they can be anonymous
- Whether the creator can see email addresses
The settings are fixed when the commitment is created.
